How much can you put in your HSA the year Medicare starts?
Your HSA contribution limit is prorated in your final year of eligibility — and if you enroll after 65, Medicare can backdate and quietly turn recent deposits into excess contributions. Enter your dates below to see your number.
Getting ready to leave your employer coverage? That’s when the real decisions get made — which parts of Medicare to take, and what to pair them with. When you’re within a few months of that date, give us a call and we’ll walk through it with you: 800‑208‑4974
What your HSA can pay for once you’re on Medicare
- Your Part B premium — including any IRMAA surcharge
- Your Part D drug plan premium
- A Medicare Advantage plan premium, if yours has one
- Deductibles, copays, and coinsurance across all parts of Medicare
- Dental, vision, and hearing care
- Not a Medicare Supplement premium — Plan G, Plan N, and the rest don’t qualify
And you don’t have to spend it as you go: pay a qualified expense out of pocket, keep the receipt, and reimburse yourself from the HSA whenever you want — there’s no deadline.
