You are eligible for Sterling Medigap plans when you are 65 or older. This is during the time when you are automatically placed into Original Medicare Part A and Part B. However, the best time to purchase a Medicare supplement plan is during the Open enrollment period, so during the 6-month period of the first day of your 65th birthday.
Unfortunately, Sterling does not offer Medicare Part D. To obtain prescription drug coverage you will need to buy a stand-alone Part D plan.
Sterling offers Medicare SELECT which provides the same offerings as other Medicare supplement plans but with more benefits. With Sterling Medicare SELECT, policy holders will be in a unique in-network Medicare supplement plan which will avoid out of pockets for non-emergency services. Sterling Life Insurance Company Medigap Plan F
Sterling used to offer Medicare supplement Plan F to new enrollees. However, since January 1, 2020 , Plan F is no longer available to new beneficiaries. If you are already in Plan F or got it before January 1st, great news for you, you still receive the benefits and coverage!
Plan F is one of the most popular plans since it offers the most comprehensive coverage that by Sterling. With Plan F you get all the coverage from Plan C, plus Plan B excess charges.
Here are a few highlights of Plan F:
- No Copays
- No deductibles
- No out of pocket costs

Sterling Medicare Supplement Plan G
With Sterling Medicare supplement Plan G, it offers pretty much that same range of coverage as Plan F. So if you are a new enrollee and want something as robust as Plan F (which is currently not available for new Medicare supplement users) than Plan G may be the Plan for you!
Plan G covers everything that Plan F covers except for the Part B deductible which is $198 in 2020. Here are some of the benefits of Plan G and why folks prefer this plan over the other Medigap Plans:

Sterling Medigap Plan N
Medicare supplement Plan N is one of the more affordable options. Similar to Plan G, however, it does not cover Medicare Part B deductibles or Part B excess charges. In that case, beneficiaries would have to pay out of pocket for those costs.
However, Plan N still provides coverage for a multitude of services such as:
- Hospital costs up to 365 days after Original Medicare
- Hospice care copay or coinsurance
- Part A deductible
- Part B coinsurance costs
- Part B preventative care
- Skilled nursing
